The Church has repeatedly called on the authorities to be vigilant: not to abuse their powers, not to violate the Constitution and laws, to stop, to cease attacks and to repent.

It is with sincere sorrow that we declare that certain representatives of the Armenian authorities, including Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, are deliberately pursuing their disrespectful and obscene line towards the Holy Church. Father Asohik Karapetyan, a member of the clergy of the Holy See of Etchmiadzine, wrote.

“The Holy Church has repeatedly called on the authorities to be vigilant: not to abuse their powers, not to violate the Constitution and laws, to stop, to cease attacks and to repent. To repent as Armenian Christians.

But alas, nothing changes, the evil continues. What’s more, the actions of certain representatives of the authorities are becoming increasingly aggressive, devoid of any Christian spirit or legality.

As a priest, I appeal to these officials. I feel it’s necessary to warn them: if you don’t stop, we’ll be forced to raise the issue at a higher level. You have exceeded the limits of what is permitted, the limits of faith and spiritual life.

Stop it, civil servants. Please, for the love of God, put an end to this monstrous process, in which there is neither love nor light. The Church’s anathema is terrible – with all its most serious consequences in this life and in eternity. So don’t encourage us to resort to divine authority: stop and repent,” writes Father Asohik.
